At One 8 Solutions, we take pride in celebrating the diverse talents and passions of our team members. Today, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Pat Robinson, one of our dedicated Bookkeepers who brings creativity and a unique perspective to both her professional and personal life.
The Artistic Journey
For Pat, art is more than just a hobby; it’s a form of therapy and a welcome escape from the demands of everyday life. As she explains, “It’s something that I do for myself, on my terms. As a mother of a 4-year-old who works two jobs, I was having trouble ‘clocking out.’ Focusing on art projects is a welcome change of pace. The freedom to experiment with different mediums and techniques in a creative mindset is a form of therapy—a reset from the world of deadlines, expectations, and tedious transactional work.”
Pat’s art is deeply personal, often reflecting her journey through life’s ups and downs. She describes painting as “a more active form of meditation.” Unlike traditional meditation, which requires stillness and an empty mind, Pat finds peace in the flow of paint and the creative process. “The flow of the paint and every step in the process bringing a piece closer to what I believe it could be is hypnotizing in all the right ways,” she shares.
A Passion Ignited by Kindness Rocks
Pat’s artistic journey began in 2022, inspired by a simple yet profound discovery—painted Kindness Rocks scattered around her city. These small tokens of positivity led her to join a local Kindness Rocks group on Facebook. “When I learned that these kind souls paint and hide rocks for the sole purpose of making people happy, I was sold,” Pat recalls. This newfound passion gave her the courage to start painting, something she had long told herself she couldn’t do.
Starting with plaster molds, Pat gradually expanded her repertoire to include sculpting polymer clay, painting rocks, stenciling signs, and eventually, canvas projects. Each creation is a testament to her belief in the joy of experimentation and the beauty of happy little accidents—a philosophy inspired by her admiration for Bob Ross.
Spreading Joy Through Art
For Pat, the value of her art lies not in its monetary worth but in the joy it brings to others. While she hasn’t sold any pieces yet, she finds immense satisfaction in creating gifts for friends and family and hiding painted rocks around her city. One of her fondest memories is when a preschool teacher shared a photo on Facebook of her class finding a sparkly Blue’s Clues paw that Pat had hidden on a local path. “The joy in their faces took me out of my own troubles and turned my day around,” she says.
A Life Filled with Music and Creativity
Pat’s creativity extends beyond the canvas. Despite being introverted, she has always needed creative outlets in her life, starting with theater at age five and later singing. In 2021, she began filming herself singing and attempting to learn the ukulele, a journey that has boosted her confidence and allowed her to track her progress. “I’ve gotten better at playing ukulele, but I still don’t handle being filmed that well. I much prefer putting on concerts for my son,” she admits with a smile.
Music remains a huge part of Pat’s life, and she enjoys sharing covers of artists she loves, hoping to expose more people to their music. For Pat, imitation is indeed the highest form of flattery, and her dedication to mastering new skills, whether in music or art, is truly inspiring.
A Creative Spirit That Inspires Us All
Pat Robinson is a shining example of how creativity can enrich life, offering a way to reset, reflect, and bring joy to oneself and others. Whether she’s crafting a new piece of art, hiding a painted rock, or strumming her ukulele, Pat’s passion for creative expression is contagious. We’re proud to have her as part of the One 8 Solutions team, where her creativity and positive spirit continue to inspire us all.
