QuickBooks Tip of the Month: How to Build Custom Dashboards in Performance Center
Performance Center allows you to create custom charts that track revenue, expenses, gross profit, net income, cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and more.
How to Use Performance Center:
- Go to Reports → Performance Center.
- Click Quick Add Charts or Add New Chart.
- Select KPIs such as revenue, expenses, gross profit, net income, A/R, or A/P.
- Customize date ranges, filters, and comparisons.
- Add industry benchmarks for additional context.
KPI Scorecard (QBO Advanced Only)
KPI Scorecard provides deeper KPI analysis with custom date ranges, comparative periods, and rolling 12-month views.
How to Access KPI Scorecard:
- Use the Search Bar at the top of QuickBooks Online and search for KPI Scorecard. QuickBooks features can sometimes be difficult to locate through the menu structure, making Search the fastest option.
- Select KPI Scorecard from the search results.
- Click Customize.
- Adjust date ranges, comparative periods, or rolling 12-month views.
- Change the Rows setting to 30 so you can see all metrics at one time.
- Review KPI performance and trends.
Tip:
KPIs measure performance, while trends show how those metrics change over time. Use Performance Center for visual dashboards and KPI Scorecard for deeper analysis. Review both regularly and update them as your business priorities evolve.
